About Us.
Our Story.
Since 2019
Gracias a Dios Restaurant y Tortillería is a place for Hondurans and anyone else who wants to experience the authentic flavors of homemade food from Honduras, Mexico, and Latin American homes.
Our cooks are mothers who have developed the menu from the traditional recipes and flavors of their homeland.
We opened our doors on June 5, 2019.
The name Gracias a Dios means “Thank God” and is also one of the 18 departments into which Honduras is divided.
Joe Othoniel was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He grew up working in the family restaurant alongside his parents. He learned that tasty homemade food, generous portions, and friendly service are the golden recipe for a successful restaurant. Joe wanted to share his family’s recipes and cooking style with the locals of Wilmington, NC. He warmly welcomes local Hondurans to indulge in the traditional dishes and flavors that remind them of their home.
Our menu includes many of the traditional Honduran dishes including Baleadas, Pollo con Tajadas, Costilla de Cerdo Horneada, Pastelitos, Anafre, Catracha. We also proudly offer traditional Mexican dishes including Fajitas, Burritos, and Quesadillas. We invite you to join us at our table and celebrate in the Honduran culture with warm hospitality and traditional Latin food.
